The film tells the fact-based story of Mosku, king of the north-eastern wilds, reindeer lord and horror of reindeer thieves, who lived in Lapland in the early 20th century. Mosku is a forest vigilante with nerves of iron who has learnt the wilderness skills from his father already at an early age. As a young boy, Mosku runs face to face on a log floating site with Rupipää’s gang of bandits who have sneaked across the border to steal the camp’s food supply raft. Animosity between Mosku and Rupipää continues, flaring up
in countless showdowns. All is fair in this battle.

Reindeer thefts become alarmingly common in the borderlands. Reindeer are stolen by the Skolt Laps, the Reds who have retreated to the north and herds of bandits alike. The villagers decide in an emergency meeting to set up voluntary troops to patrol the borderlands and to look for the stolen herds. Only one man volunteers for the task. He is Mosku.

Mosku is fit out with just a rifle and five cartridges. While patrolling in the wilderness he lives by the laws of nature. He manages to free countless reindeer, and at the same time his reputation grows. But the resources of a lone wolf are limited. On his next expedition he is accompanied by Commander Wallenius of the Lapland Border Guard Detachment and his soldiers. Their aim is to return the stolen reindeer to Finland. Their journey turns into a colorful adventure.

Mari, who lives in the village, is intrigued by Mosku’s gruff appearance and wants to find out what’s behind the stern facade. The two relentless souls hitch up. Mari moves into Mosku’s house with her son and an old farmhand. Mari starts to run an inn and a store in the house. One day Rupipää shows up by chance at Mosku’s inn, and the two enemies meet again...

“Mosku - the last of his kind” brings on screen the stunningly beautiful Lapland scenery, excellent actor’s work and a touching story amidst the tumult of stomping reindeer.
